SPARTANBURG, S.C., [November 3, 2022] – Agape Care Group (“Agape Care”), the premier provider of hospice and palliative care in the Southeast and portfolio company of Ridgemont Equity Partners, announced today it has acquired Journey Hospice based in Birmingham, Alabama. This acquisition expands Agape Care’s coverage into Alabama and Louisiana, strengthening its position as a leading hospice and palliative care provider across the South and Southeast.

With the addition of Journey Hospice to its portfolio, the Agape Care Group family of brands now offers hospice and palliative care across five states, with 1,500 employees caring for nearly 3,700 patients each day.

“We are excited to welcome the Journey Hospice team to the Agape Care Group family. Our two organizations’ values deeply align, making this a natural fit,” said Troy Yarborough, chief executive officer of Agape Care Group. “We are both committed to providing personalized, patient-focused end-of-life services, and this union will allow us to even further raise the standard of patient care, particularly in areas that lack access to quality healthcare.”

Journey Hospice serves patients in eight counties across Alabama and 13 parishes in Louisiana. This acquisition will allow the two organizations to combine resources and provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families throughout the Southeast.

“We’re looking forward to joining the Agape Care family and continuing to provide compassionate and attentive care to each patient,” said April Holcombe, the CEO and owner of Journey Hospice. “As a family-owned company, it was important to us to only consider a team with the highest standards of care. Agape Care fits the bill.”

Journey Hospice will continue to operate under its current name in the near term. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
